I've recently convinced my barbers to offer free wifi,  because when I'm sat waiting for my few remaining strands to be trimmed it would be nice to browse, slightly selfish I suppose. I'm sitting in the cafe area of the local sports centre waiting for my son to finish his swimming lesson. I rang Sky the other day to ask about how much it costs to have Sky Sports etc. installed into the pub.  Now Sky base all their charges on your pub's rateable value so bearing in mind my rateable value has gone up to £49,000 from £29,000 the previous year I thought this could be interesting. Good to see Marstons holding a price freeze on their beer this year (not the same luck for us with Enterprise Inns and their 3.5% price hike) but bizarrely only offering its new freetrade pricing deal, Advance, to around 600 of its best lessees? The agreement stands alongside the existing lease and allows beer to be bought at freetrade prices in return for an additional payment on top of the rent

I thought one day, well I have always thought about it actually, of keeping some sort of diary about my life running a pub. So I started this blog. Bit late in the day bearing in mind I bought the pub back in 2001. I've started it today nonetheless.
